So I reminded him swimming in the ocean is very different then swimming at the pool.

Also gimme the names and contact info of the "group of friends" you going with in case you go missing. Cause.....

Already planning 16th birthday

Yo teens are brutal. I asked my son what he wants to do for his 16th birthday. He tells me, he already made plans with his friends. 😑

And so after hanging out, a group of teen boys are in my kitchen making noise and celebrating my son.

I dont mind that my son didn't inlude me this year, since I did get cake.

Our mini hike

Spending time with the teen during a mini hike. Which included me being attacked by bugs and my teen son not helping.

But that's ok (sorta) cause it's all about making those core memories before he leaves the nest (sorta).

This year solar eclipse on April 8 was an extra special phenomenon, mostly because I was able to experience it with my teen son. I figured if the world was going to end, at least we'd see it together.

I told him as much, which he just rolled his eyes at. Because....teen son

But he agreed to join me for a trip to the American Museum of Natural History to see it from their fancy terrace area. Plus see the new New Gilder Center section, since he hasn't yet.

We decided to make it another mom and son day at the museum. Gosh we use to have so many of those before he became a "teen".

The AMNH hosted a Solar Eclipse Day, which included getting a pair eclipse glasses, along with family-friendly educational activities.

While we missed the activities, we did get our eclipse glasses and joined other families on the Arthur Ross Terrace.

Being on Arthur Ross Terrace gave us a clear amazing view as we watched the moon eclipse the sun. Even at 90 percent coverage, it was truly one of those rare life experiences.

Made more rare when I heard my teen said this was "cool" and later that he enjoyed sharing that moment with me. A truly phenomenal day.

Hopefully my son can see the next total solar eclipse in 2044, when he's 35 y/o with his teen child!

New Year start with dancing dragons

Dancing fans. Dancing ribbons. Dancing dragons.

We started our Lunar New Year celebration by seeing Nai-Ni Chen Dance Co performance at Kupferberg Center for the Arts.

Celebrating 15th birthday in Philly

Celebrating my son's 15th birthday in Philadelphia with friends.

We toured some sites and hung out at the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival. 🥳

Eating all the backyard veggies

Spent the day outta state with my Korean "mom" and family.

We ate. And ate. And ate some more. It was a good day. 🥰

NYC Japan Parade with Friends

Today's adventure, taking my son and his friends to the Japan Parade.

I think they had a good time

Case for mini braces

Guess who's son got a mouth and tooth injury in school....

Which means I had to cancel my plans, pick him up and take him to dentist office for urgent care.

3 hours at hospital later, my son is fine but he gotta wear mini braces for 1 month 😫

It's still weird to me. When I was a child I woke up early, did chores, watched cartoons and then went outside to play.

Did some get ready for high school shopping with the teen today. It was....interesting. 😳

The back and forth over clothing is new. No more picking out clothes for him 😭

But having to feed him after is still the usual 🤦🏽‍♀️

Today we visited The Bronx Zoo with friends.

My sons classmate and his mom.

Graduate of middle school

And its done! My son has graduated out of middle school. Class of 2022, We did it!

▪︎Through teenage angst.
▪︎Through single parenting.

He even received a few awards before graduation.

A night with Jurassic World Dominion
