The “holiday season” means another year gone.
But at the end remains “US”. Together. Family.
Happy Holidays Indeed.

Dancing with flower women
We had an amazing day at The Philadelphia Flower Show painting, seeing floral & plant exhibits, dancing with flower women and more!
Wish we could stay longer but it’s time for the Flower Show to end for the day. Glad it was outdoors this year.

Travel, Dinosaurs & Vaccines
So we recently did a thing....got vaccinated at American Museum of Natural History.
Process was quick and easy. We celebrated with a photo opp with the Blue Whale and T-Rex. 🐋🦖
Honestly I've been on the fence about this. I had lots of pro and con concerns about which vaccines, when we should get them and where we'd go.
But once the vaccine became available for kids 12+, my son and I started discussing travel again and how much we missed going places.
My son has been asking for months, when we're going somewhere. While we love being in NYC, my son enjoys being part of the activities when we visit different cities. I get it. I'm the one who introduced him to that lifestyle!
Now we're ready to be part of that "we outta state" lifestyle again, and we both agreed it was time to get it done.
We looked over various locations to find the right fit for distance, timing and options. Once we saw that American Museum of Natural History had availability, we knew it was the right spot for us. I mean come on, we LOVE that museum.
Once there, the overall process was organized and went quickly. After it was done, we celebrated with a photo beneath the Blue Whale and next to the T-Rex heads. Because of course we would.
Now we can plan a trip to see the Blue Whales in real life. As for dinosaurs, we'll stick to seeing the one's in the museums. No real life dinosaurs for me!
Without getting into the vaccination debate, I think it's a personal choice. People do what's right for their families, based on the right information, in the right time and with the right motivation. I encourage families to make informed choices.
If your choice is to get vaccinated, then you have options, use them, which can include going to the American Museum of Natural History to get vaccinated.

Surrounded by racial love and hate
I don't talk about my multicultural life a lot on this blog because, but lately I feel that keeping things separate, also keeps me separate in other people minds. Even thought I'm not.
I've taken it for granted my readers know that I identify as a black woman. That my son is half Korean. That we have a foot in the "Black" community, the Asian community, the Latino community, as well as a few other "ethnic" communities.
Being a multicultural family has always been a joy for us. We're exposed to all the love, experiences and things from different cultures and I believe this makes us better individuals for it.
But that's just one side of things.....
The other side is that it also exposes us to a different level of hatred. For being black. For being Asian. For being Other.
I can not explain to you what the past year has been like for my family. Everyday there's a news story highlighting that we're hated. That we're being killed or objects of violence. That we're not safe as citizens within our own country.
As a multicultural "Black" woman, what to do?
As a mother to an "Asian" child, what to do?
Ironically I know what do because this isn't the first time racially target things like this has happened. I can count twice before this. And I know there will be more times like this. Racial hatred won't stop anytime soon.
So I do what I did back then, and what I will have to do in the future. I cling to my community. I teach my son to cling to his community. All of them.
Because that is where the love is. That is where the safety is. That is where changes will start that will impact the other communities and hopefully one day, change something. I've seen it already happen. Minority communities tend to be the catalyst for change. I know it will happen again.
So for now my son and I will stay surrounded by our communities in love, while the world tries to surround us in hate.

Flexing for National Superhero Day
This last year my son has put on his cape (imaginary) and tackled remote learning, puberty drama (pimples! growth spurts! feelings!) and me asking him to do his chores. 😂🤷🏽♂
It hasn't been easy but he's gone through it like a superhero.
So when BendyFigs sent him one of their figures for National Superhero Day, he was ready to pose and flex his muscles! #MySuperPose 👦🏽💪
While he still has some years before he becomes a Superman, for now he sure is a "super" kid.

My shadow selfie
I use to be able to do things by myself. Like take a selfie. 🤳
Now I can't do nothing by myself for the last 13 years. 😑
No one warned me having a child means a permanent shadow. Will this end at 18?! 21!? After he has kids?! 😭

An adult-ish tween doctor visit
Today we had the yearly doctor visit. It was interesting.
Now that I have a tween the doctors questions are more....adultish....about sexual health etc. 😱🧑🏾⚕️
Gosh are we here already? Didn't I just give birth to my son? Is he ready for "sex" talk and prep already?! 👩❤️💋👨🚫🙅🏾♀️
